"Crazed Gunman" Mental Health is a Shooting Problem - GMP #244

Not all mass shooters are severely mentally ill, but many certainly are. Unfortunately, "the narrative" disingenuously wants to blame firearms rather than the person pulling the trigger, regardless of their motivation. In this episode, Will Dabbs, MD joins us to talk about what untreated mental illness looks like "on the street." EPISODE SPONSORS The GUNS Magazine Podcast is presented by Riton ...

Talking Turkey with Ken Byers - GMP #229
I just wanted to take a moment to tell you that I love Roy Huntington's videos of the many topics he puts out. But I also get just as much from the content that you are putting out, especially when it comes to these things like different sighting systems, the various types of handguns, and especially when you talk about revolvers. You stack up very well against any other gun content youtuber, and that is an extremely good complement, considering the many people putting things out today. So thank you and well done. I look forward to more of your short videos on the various topics that you cover. Be safe and have a blessed fall season, taking time to just recreate with yourself and your family. I know how hard editors work, and you need down time to be able to put in the long hours often needed to put the issues to bed, in a manner of speaking.
Appreciate your kind words sir! Roy
BEAUTIFUL
A falling block single shot is still missing from my collection.
Get busy then … Roy
Running gun fights lol❤
Well, the internet is a very tactical place :-) - TM
Yes sir that gun was well used. A good one
Love Ruger !
Henreee! Henry Aldrich! ("Coming, Mother.") 😂
So is a Ruger single six... So then he refuses to show you the target 22 shot cartridges are good for 10 ft
Not sure quite what you’re saying Mr. Smith. We did shoot the rifle, the hits are clearly seen on the target, etc. I did another entire video on shooting Ruger Single Sixes at a target with .22 LR shot and they don’t work nearly as well. ruclips.net/video/FKyu2-vagrI/видео.html
Wow yes cool
Yes, its very, very cool, a a remarkable find for the both of you
Yes. I own 1 smith & 1 Taurus but Navy didn’t teach on this
I had one about 30 years ago...
Mr Roy you have the coolest guns, very nice thanks again
I try Fernando! Roy
Garunteee accuracy level is dog shit… js
Love these old gems
I have a Webley. It’s very accurate. Enfield is basically a copy of it. They even got sued by Webley and lost.
As a younger man I really wanted one one those aluminum frame guns.
I had a couple and they were the best of the breed. There was nothing like them back in the day. Roy
I really want you To meet Hicock45
I met him at the SHOT show some years ago. A real nice gent. Roy
Vaquero or new vaquero? I have a couple older S&W’s that were rode hard they’re about that close to being right. Thinking on taking the nicer one to a shop to check timing but both will occasionally spit lead at me from the forcing cone
The actions are the same on the Vaqueros. On the older Smiths they can get out of time and it’s best to have someone who knows what he’s doing look at them. It’s usually an easy fix. Roy
I just had to do the same thing years ago with my, .30 carbine, it did almost the same damage. Don.
I have a IVER JOHNSON top break I found in a pawn shop $75 it was missing grips and the finish was kaput 😂, I found original grips on eBay and had a local gunsmith give it bluing treatment they would have used,32 cal it's a fun gun to play with
That’s great you brought it back to life! Roy
New subscriber here so they are sending me older video: I too like the Bearcat but for some reason haven’t been able to get one (people don’t put them in the used market). For my walking around on the property gun I now have one of the short barreled Wranglers with a birds heads grip. Got it used in excellent condition. Like your videos!
Thanks Hunter. That Bird’s Head Wrangler is about perfect for a walk-around gun. I like to slick up their actions as that really changes things. Roy
The spirit of that gun sings sweet tones to me
I think there's a casual Relationship between you and the 🔫 🔫 🔫.
It’s true on all these old guns! Roy
It’s a great video. I own a S&W Model 60 myself, which I haven’t shot nearly enough over the years. I’m curious about how you aim with it. Intuitively, I’ve tried to align the front sight with the rear notch, similar to how you would with a revolver that has traditional sights. However, this can be quite challenging, especially since my eyesight isn’t what it used to be, and there’s not much of the front sight left visible when I aim this way. Do you use the same technique? Or does your front sight remain fully visible? How do you properly aim with such a revolver? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Joe, the tiny sights are a challenge and there’s no easy fix other than installing new, bigger sights. If you raise the front sight up, the gun will shoot very high then, so that’d a no-go option. You can learn to “index” the gun by looking “over” the rear and front sight. So you’re not really looking through the sights, but just over them. That allows a rough sight alignment and is plenty accurate for close defensive use. Try it when you dry-fire. Roy
Very nice. I have used that ammo before, but you have to be close. It's probably great snake medicine. I had a friend this past week that had a rattlesnake in his yard he about stepped on. The DNR came and had it removed. Thank God. Be well and God speed sir.
Hey Hoosier. This being smoothbore really allows those little shot cartridges to perform much better than from a rifled barrel. Roy
does it still shoot?
It could, but I don’t want to risk it. Roy
Beautiful gun.
Cool old guns are my favorite. I miss the NRA Museum daily gun posts.
Agreed Kurt. Perhaps they’ll return. Roy
@@fmgpubs I actually tried to look into it. Lack of resources was the response I got. Doesn't sound promising.
Not crazy, more Awsome
Appreciate the vote of confidence Relentless! Roy
Sweet...
Very valuable video. Thanks so much for thinking of us financially challenged concealed carriers. I have been carrying a Rossi stainless 2" 38 small frame M88 since 1994 that I paid $200 for. Amazing how good some inexpensive firearms can be.
I got X/S Optic Height tritium night sights on my M&P 2.0 4.625 inch barrel 10mm.
I have a set on a 9mm version of that gun :-) - TM
That bang was a lot louder than I expected😮😅
Just because it’s a .22 short doesn’t mean you don’t need ear protection! Roy
@@fmgpubs I never said it did. And by the way my name is Ed. While you're wearing ear protection pick up a pair of good reading glasses haha
Those little shells have no purpose, not even blinking in your basement, just a piece of junk garbage
Oh, well, that’s funny because I use them all the time on my property here. I’m not sure what “blinking” in your basement is though? Roy
This isn’t an American made . It’s made in China. Please to all the seniors don’t waste your money on this overpriced imported price of junk
Yeah, but it’s hard to find things like that isn’t made overseas these days. Do you have the name of an American Made version you could share perhaps? Roy
Please . Patriots solar generators are over priced. The small sidekick in this video has a $499 price tag . You can get the same power from a $250 model from other companies . Also the Patriot is Not made in the USA it is made in CHINA
Get ur clumpy finger off the fukn trigger grandpa. Save ur back in my day, gun ain't loaded speech.
I don't do any gunsmithing, however this product has piqued my interest in the past, and idk imo it seems childish to make fun of someone that would use a small belt sander, I would rather use this small belt sander to smooth ends of bike spokes I cut to length and are too short that I would use pliers to hold them. idk thats just me.
A perfect use for it. It’s very versatile. I have a friend who builds plastic models. He keeps a very fine belt on one to smooth and shape plastic parts. Roy
I've found an XS Big Dot front and Novak (half) Ghost Ring LoMount rear is a fantastically fast sight system. Especially for aging eyes. It's also much more precise (for me) than the open express rear. Tom's method, with the standard Express Sights, DOES WORK but you HAVE to get used to it as it's much different than a standard sight picture. This new sight should improve the Novak/XS system that I use even MORE!!!
And it's always interesting to compare how well those aging eyes (i have them...) contrast with busy everyday backgrounds as opposed to a paper target. - TM
Great post 🎉 Killer mustache too 😅
Thanks Johnnie! Roy
Had one of these for sale at one of my local pawn shop a little over a decade ago for 200 bucks but wasn't old enough to buy it at the time. Wish I did back then because these are classy!
I think we all wish we could go back, eh? Roy
I’m so glad I found this older podcast. Two people in the firearms industry that I have found interesting, are Mark Gurney from Ruger, and Mark Serbu, from Serbu Firearms. I feel that they have a unique prospective on firearms, and the industry in general. Great podcast.
Agreed Chris. Mark has a great sense of humor and is smart as hell. Roy
My neighbor has a cannon in the front yard. My wife said no, when I asked about us getting one. I have several military rifles, but mostly shooters (not numbers matching), instead of “collector “ rifles. I love them, and always keep my eyes out for a new addition. Great podcast!
What? No Cannon? Why not make a sort of dummy one, but that looks good! Roy
Not sure what ammo we used, but i took a ccw class where range training was shooting a target at the end of a hall. Semiautomatic and revolver each with laser.
Huh??? So, that's different LOL...
It literally does not get any cooler than this.
My grandad was a tank driver in WWII, they were as much to shoot yourself with if trapped in a burning tank.
A good point Jason. Roy
Hell yeah !
I think this was a military trainer rather than a rook rifle.
The original one was, indeed, but it certainly qualified as a “Rook” rifle with the low powered cartridge and single shot make-up. They are all over in Australia! Roy
I've got one
